City of Selma Planning and Zoning Commission

The City of Selma Planning & Zoning Commission consists of five members. Meetings are attended by Larry Verner, City Engineer and a representative from the City Administrator's office. Requests for zoning information should be addressed to Ken Roberts, City Administrator or
Larry Verner.

Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone (TIRZ) Board

The Tax Reinvestment Zone board consists of nine unpaid board members representing various taxing entities associated with the City of Selma. The primary purpose of the board is to review and validate claims for infrastructure reimbursement in the Selma Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone. The board then sends a recommendation to Selma City Council on distribution of tax increment funds. Bexar County and the City of Selma also receive funds for administration and the City of Selma receives a reimbursement for emergency services provided to the zone.

The Selma Parks & Recreation Commission will convene in a Meeting, November 21, 2011 at 6:00 P.M. in the room behind Council Chambers in the Selma City Hall, 9375 Corporate Drive, Selma, Texas 78154. The Order of Business will be:

Citizens to be Heard – (This time is provided for citizens to address the Commission on issues and concerns. No action can or will be taken on issues raised under this portion of the Meeting. Please limit your remarks to a period not to exceed three (3) minutes. We ask that you state your name and address for the record).

1. Discussion/Possible Action on the Minutes of Commission Meeting held on October 18, 2011.

2. Discussion/Possible Action on the progress of landscaping and/or adding trees to the Stage Stop/Forest Creek Park.

3. Discussion/Possible Action on the feasibility of using engraved paving stones as a fundraiser.

4. Discussion/Possible Action in regard to the holiday tree at the Stage Stop Park.

5. Update on the Selma-Schertz 5K Run.

6. Discussion/Possible Action on the completed Parks and Recreation survey
and the administration/distribution of said survey.

The Selma Historical Commission will convene in a Meeting at 6:30 P.M. on Monday, November 14, 2011 in the room behind Council Chambers in the Selma City Hall, 9375 Corporate Drive, Selma, Texas 78154. The Order of Business will be:

1. Discussion/Possible Actionon on the Minutes of the October 6, 2011 Selma Historical Commission Meeting.

2. Discussion/Possible Action on a Texas Historical Marker for the Selma Stage Stop.

3. Discussion/Possible Action on the presentation of a copy of “History of Selma” to the Schertz Library.

4. Discussion/Possible Action on the creation of a Selma Historical Commission Certificate of Appreciation for use for future financial donors.

5. Discussion/Possible Action on possible City Wide Party and/or revival of Heritage Day.

6. Discussion/Possible Action on a name for the proposed Heritage Day.

7. Discussion/Possible Action on creating an e-mail list for notification of Historical Commission events.

8. Discussion/Possible Action on approval of a letter to the City Engineer requesting an update on actions taken with regard to the roof of the Harrison House.

9. Discussion/Possible Action on inviting City Council Members to future Commission Meetings.

10. Discussion/Possible Action on the planting of a Holiday Tree at the Selma Stage Stop, advertising with schools for ornament contributions and setting a date for the decoration of same.

11. Discussion/Possible Action on a letter to City Council regarding the deteriorating condition of the Stage Stop and requesting action.

12. Discussion/Possible Action on a fundraising drive for the sale of personalized paving stones to be placed around the Stage Stop in coordination with the Parks and Recreation Commission.

13. Discussion/Possible Action requesting business cards, funded by the City, reflecting Commission Members’ names.

14. Discussion/Possible Action requesting the Mayor place a notice in the City Newsletter asking persons to notify the City if they are interested in serving in the Historical Commission should a vacancy occur.

15. Discussion/Possible Action requesting the City establish a new two tiered system for reserving the pavilion with rates lower for Selma Residents and higher rates for non-residents.

16. Discussion/Possible Action on the establishment of a bank account for the Historical Commission.

17. Discussion/Possible Action on obtaining City resources to fund the acquisition of embroidered shirts for Members of the Historical Commission.

18. Discussion/Possible Action on requesting the City to contract with one or more businesses for a possible fundraising to benefit activities of the Historical Commission.

19. Discussion/Possible Action on recommendation to City Council for the acquisition of additional property for parks.

20. Discussion/Possible Action on requesting an agenda item for City Council for the establishment of a Selma City Flag Contest.
